WHO WE ARE

We are a new Southern Baptist church-start that is on the north side of Morro Bay. The church has existed on the north side of Morro Bay since 1953.  The church has gone through many changes throughout the years it has been open.  In 2012, the church experienced some hard times and asked that First Baptist Church of Los Osos help.  The church closed down to see what God wanted for the congregation and the building.  A decision to have a new church start was made through much prayer and seeking God's guidance.  From that point on, the preparations were being made to get this church restarted.  Pastor Jeremy was brought on in August of 2014 and the church has restarted.

What WE believe

At North Morro Church (or NMC) we are a gospel-centered church.  We strive to be as biblical as we can possibly be, while keeping in mind that we are still sinful humans.  NMC's purpose is to glorify God in all that we do.  We will do that through prayer, flexbility, evangelism, discipleship, authenticity, serving, building relationships, and always learning. We believe that we are to be a community and a family.  Evangelism is a big part of North Morro Church.  We want to tell non-followers of Jesus Christ about Jesus and what He as done for them.  God has called us to make disciples and so we believe that evangelism is the first part of that command.  The second part is discipleship.  We want everyone who comes to North Morro Church to have several opportunities to be discipled or to disciple.  Being well equipped to use the gifts and talents that God has given you is one of the goals we have and that is why discipleship is so important to us at NMC.  North Morro Church will serve the city, the community, each other, and other churches.

What we believe about the following:

(This is only an overview. For a more complete version of our beliefs click here)

The Bible:  The Bible is divinely inspired and it contains no errors.  We believe it is 100% truth and that it is the guide to having peace with God.

God:  There is one God who is 3 persons.  He is the only God; all other gods are made up by man.  God is all knowing, and He created all things.

Jesus Christ:  Jesus is one of the persons of God.  He is the Son of God and He became a man in order that we could have peace with God (John 3:16-17, Romans 10:9-10).  We believe that the only way to heaven is through Jesus (John 14:6, John 1:12).  Jesus lived a perfect life committing no sin.  We believe that Jesus is 100% man and 100% God.  We believe He died on the cross and rose 3 days later.  He is the savior and our great redeemer.

Man and Woman:  Humanity was created in the image of God and is the height of God's creation.  We believe that all humans have sinned (Romans 3:23).  Sin puts us at war with God.  Sin is us rebelling against God and what He has asked us to do.  Sin is siding with God's enemy, Satan, who is in no way equal to God. God created Satan so God could and will crush Satan.  God loved us so much He sent His Son so we could have peace with Him and no longer be at war with Him.

Heaven and Hell:  We believe that there is a heaven and hell.  We believe that only those who have made Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior will go to heaven.  Those who have a relationship with God and who put God first will go to heaven.  Hell is a terrible place that we would never want to see anyone go.  It is a place of eternal punishment.  Those who don't have peace with God through Jesus Christ are destined to hell if they do not accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

The Church:  We believe that the church should be autonomous (self governing) operating with Jesus as the head or the ultimate authority.  We believe the church has 3 offices:  Pastor (Elder, Bishop, Overseer), Deacon, and Church Member.

This church has been a Southern Baptist church from its beginning in 1953 and we will continue to be a Southern Baptist church. We welcome those from all denomination though. We adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message and you can click here to read through it for a more complete picture of our beliefs.
